ClearCorrect Invisible Alignment
ClearCorrect is a dental alignment technology designed to circumvent the stigma and hassle of wearing metal braces. Many adults who could benefit from orthodontic treatment neglect to get treated because they don’t want to wear metal braces for two or more years.
Considering that braces are typically associated with kids and teenagers, an alternative would prove quite attractive. If that describes your situation, your need to know about the ClearCorrect alignment system. You get the same benefits as traditional metal braces without anyone having to know you’re having your teeth aligned. ClearCorrect aligners are invisible to others as well as removable, making them an attractive option to straighten teeth for people of all ages.
Are You a Good Candidate for ClearCorrect?
Because not all patients are able to wear ClearCorrect aligners, Dr. Ahmed needs to complete an evaluation first to see if it’s right for you. Some people have too much of an overbite or an underbite for the aligners to be effective. They may also have problems with their jaw or other skeletal issues that would adapt better to traditional metal braces. Approximately 80 percent of patients who want to get ClearCorrect aligners are able to do so.
Receiving Your First ClearCorrect Aligners
After determining that you are a good candidate for ClearCorrect, your dentist takes several x-rays to aid with treatment planning. Dr. Ahmed also needs to take an impression of your teeth before treatment and send the mold to our laboratory at Alpha Dental. A dental lab technician then makes a set of several aligners for you based on the results of your exam and the treatment goals your dentist discussed with you.
Each aligners puts mild pressure on your teeth so they slowly move into position. Your dentist will let you know how often to exchange your current aligner for a new one. You will need to return to Alpha Dental approximately every six weeks so one of our dentists can monitor your progress. We recommend that all ClearCorrect patients wear their aligner for 22 to 23 hours each day. The only time you should have the aligners out is when you are eating or brushing your teeth. Maintaining this schedule does require discipline. However, it’s a small price to pay for a perfect smile.
ClearCorrect Aligners vs. Traditional Metal Braces
Both types of orthodontic treatment straighten teeth and bring the bite into proper alignment. However, ClearCorrect offers many advantages that standard braces just can’t offer. Some of these include:
- Removable aligners mean you can eat anything you would like during treatment. Many foods are prohibited with traditional braces due to the fear of breaking a bracket or wire.
- Aligners are removable for easy cleaning. Food tends to get stuck behind metal brackets with typical braces.
- Patients report that ClearCorrect aligners are comfortable to wear. They don’t feel self-conscious as many people with metal braces do.
- Total treatment time is 18 months on average, versus a 24 month average for wire braces.
